Went to a tourist trap in my state just to check it out, and there was a massive Asian family (like 20 people) taking a group photo. I decided to be stupid and photobomb them just as a joke. I got in behind the family, and, as a 6' tall white guy, I stood out like a sore thumb. The guy photographing (also asian) noticed this, and got really excited. I thought he was pissed for a moment, but he gave me a hand signal to stay there and keep going. The family thought he was signalling them to keep holding the pose. So, for about 30 seconds I was making faces, poses, bunny ears and other stupid stuff to be silly. Everyone started getting annoyed at why he was taking so long, then they noticed me standing behind them. They were like "who is this guy?", and the guy photographing waved them over. They cycled through the pics and were laughing their asses off all waving at me. Apparently I made their day. Either that, or they were just super-polite and acted like I was funny then deleted the pics. I don't know. It was a weird experience.

I think that my family (North West European whites) would find it equally hilarious if some random person would be photobombing us. Although, we're all quite tall, so probably not easy to photobomb.

Tourists like this might seem annoying at first, but I really love their enthusiasm. When I’m a tourist, I try to blend in as much as possible and I’m embarrassed to take photos. But honestly, who cares what other people think?

      MoonshineTora 8 일 μ „ +5

Usually locals and natives are very happy that people from all around the world are interested in their homeland, culture and food. And as a bonus, tourism helps business. It's not the tourists per se who are annoying. It's the people who don't respect rules and boundaries, running around like they own the place.
No-one mind you taking pictures, als long as you either ask the person that's going to be in the shot, and of course respecting prohibitions (mainly in museums, churches and military bases)

when I was 14 in high school in a small town of China. I met a family from America. that's the first time i saw real Americans. and they stayed in my school for a month. and finally I took a picture together with the youngest girl who is also around 12. I can remember I'm not even dare to touch her. because she is just like a ceramic doll to me.

Fun Story. One day a few years ago I was in a village / town in the Cotswolds, UK called Bourton-on-the-Water. Anyway it attracts loads of tourists. All the Asian tourists had massive cameras and took photos of EVERYTHING. I legit saw one taking a photo of a guy mowing his lawn. I mean what do you do with that photo πŸ˜‚πŸ€£. I would love to know if there are any things that Asians find weird that other tourists do in their countries.

I remember as a kid at Disneyland that a group of Asian tourists stopped us and wanted to take pictures with us, I guess because they thought it was cool to see five kids in one family or something. Not because I'm asian myself, but because many of these stereotypes exist about the people in the region of Germany where I'm from. I'm from Baden-WΓΌrttemberg and we are known for being extremely stingy, for a "not g'schumpfe isch g'nueg globt" attitude (not scolding is enough praise), for talking with a very weird accent and for being all about business. Haha i remember our trip to australia when were on a bus tour along the great ocean road, my indian mom became friends with a dutch girl maybe in her mid or late 20s who was travelling alone. She stayed with us for the whole day trip, my mom took 100s of her picture(from both her and the girls camera), even went to toilet with her for safety, the temperature dropped a lot and she became pale as ice so my mother gave her an extra shawl she had and i swear at the end of trip she could almost pass as an indian.

i am getting war flashbacks at when I was involved in a parade in a tourist favorite spot and was literally assaulted by a bunch of middle-aged asian ladies. they were really nice and everything, but godamn, they wanted a photo with everyone and everything we had. It looked like they were just a group of friends who went on a trip together and were really enthusiastic about everything, which was cute, but we also had to move on

When dad went across the road to Picasso’s drawing and the camera panned at the incoming van, I, for a second, caught myself naturally thinking Steven was actually holding the camera without realizing it couldn’t be him because he was playing the dad.

One daughter said It was due to my auburn hair and it's strong bright red and it's length the older adults kept touching my hair and kept patting my head then my dad who knew a few words told them he named me "Mimi" they patted him on shoulder and said good name lol. And no my name is legit not a nickname. I love that memory.
